PriceSniper ("we," "our," or "the app") is a consumer protection application that helps users investigate product listings for potential drop-shipping and inflated pricing. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle data.
1. Data We Collect
Product URLs & Scan Data
When you scan a product, we process the URL you provide to generate a BS Report. The product name, domain, score, and verdict are stored locally on your device and shared anonymously with our servers to power the Trending and Discover features.
Screenshot Analysis
When you use the screenshot feature, the image is sent securely to our servers for AI-powered product identification. Screenshots are processed in real-time and are not stored after analysis.
App Usage Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used. This includes:
- Which features are used (scans, history, discover, settings)
- Screen views and navigation patterns
- App session duration
- Device type and operating system version
This data is anonymized and aggregated — we cannot identify individual users.
Crash Reports
We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash logs and diagnostic data. This helps us identify and fix bugs quickly. Crash reports include device model, OS version, and stack traces — no personal information.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
- Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
- Your physical location or GPS data
- Your contacts, photos, or files
- Your browsing history outside the app
- Data from other apps on your device
- Any financial or payment information (subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple/Google)
3. How We Use Your Data
- Product Investigation: URLs you submit are sent to our secure servers for AI-powered analysis via the Perplexity Sonar API
- Screenshot Analysis: Product screenshots are analyzed using OpenAI's API to identify products and extract URLs
- Trending Data: Anonymous scan data (product name, score, domain) is used to populate the Discover feed showing trending scams and verified products
- App Improvement: Analytics help us understand which features matter most so we can prioritize development
- Crash Prevention: Crash reports help us fix bugs and improve stability
4. Third-Party Services
PriceSniper uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Perplexity AI (Sonar API) — Processes product URLs to generate investigation reports. Privacy Policy
- OpenAI API — Processes product screenshots for identification. Privacy Policy
- Supabase — Stores anonymous trending scan data and community content. Privacy Policy
- Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics (Google) — Collects anonymous usage analytics and crash reports. Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat — Manages subscription purchases. Privacy Policy
5. Data Storage & Security
- Local Storage: Your scan history is stored locally on your device using an encrypted database. Theme preferences and settings are stored locally via DataStore.
- Cloud Storage: Anonymous trending data is stored on Supabase servers in Frankfurt, Germany (EU), protected by Row Level Security policies.
- Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
- API Security: Sensitive API keys are stored server-side in Supabase Edge Functions and never included in the app binary.
6. Data Retention
- Local scan history: Stored until you delete the app or clear app data
- Anonymous trending data: Retained indefinitely to maintain historical trending information
- Analytics data: Retained per Firebase's default retention policy (14 months)
- Crash logs: Retained for 90 days
- Screenshots: Processed in real-time and not stored
7. Children's Privacy
PriceSniper is not directed at children under 17 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to remove such information.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request information about what data we hold about you
- Deletion: Delete your local scan history by clearing app data or uninstalling the app
- Opt-out: You can disable analytics by contacting us
- Data Portability: Export your scan history as CSV or HTML from the History screen
9. Subscriptions
PriceSniper Pro subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple's App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information. Subscription management, billing, and cancellation are handled by Apple or Google respectively.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this privacy policy periodically.
